Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and applying sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets attacked energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
