The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update. Social Media Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Updates Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said. Service Background The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
